All churches colourfully decorated for the occasion

Rajahmundry: Pomp and religious fervour marked Christmas celebrations here on Friday. All churches, including some of the oldest churches like Holly Trinity Church and Christ’s Church, were colourfully decorated.

The devout thronged the churches and offered prayers. Rev. Swatanta Kumar and Rev. Pratap Sinha conducted prayers at different churches and delivered the Jesus message. They called upon the devotees to uphold the qualities of compassion and love which were very dear to Jesus. Hundreds of small churches also conducted special programmes.

Thousands of Christians visited some 50 major churches in Rajahmundry and more than 400 churches in the district. Most of the Konaseema churches had a festive look from Thursday night as most of the Churches located in that area. Special prayers were held at Holly Trinity Church, Jampeta Saint Pal’s Church, Cemetrypet Church and the one at Saint Devadas Church and other areas. G.V. Harsha Kumar, MP, along with his family members attended prayers at Brothern Church in Korukonda Road and the old church at Rajiv Gandhi Degree College.
