Enthused by the good response to his visit to division headquarters to find a solution to the people’s woes, Prakasam District Collector G.S.R.K.R. Vijaykumar will henceforth move to mandal headquarters one day every week for quicker results.

Moved by people waiting in long queues here on Mondays to draw his attention to their woes, the collector said “I will visit two mandals each on every Wednesday to fine tune the administrative mechanism and hasten the process of providing a solution to their problems.”

''To start with I will visit Pullalachervu and Tripurantakam in Western Prakasam tomorrow,” he told a press conference here on Tuesday.

A review would be conducted every 15 days to redress their grievances, which were mostly related to house sites, he added.

Stating that 25.70 lakh of the total 33.93 lakh people in the district had been provided with Aadhaar cards so far, he said rest of the people would be provided the all important cards in two months time. Latrines (ISLs) under Nirmal Bharat Abhiyan were grounded as against 1.06 lakh ISLs sanctioned in the first phase.

Another 1.50 lakh ISLs would be taken up in the second phase in 1,029 villages to make Prakasam an open defecation-free district, he added.

The drought-prone district had been provided with 2.5 tmc ft of Krishna water in the last one month to tide over the drinking water shortage during the summer. The drinking water tanks would be replenished as and when required, he added.
