VISAKHAPATNAM: Praja Spandana has ridiculed Visakhapatnam MP N. Janardhan Reddy for playing `safe politics' as far as the aspirations of the rail users of the region are concerned.
In a statement, president of the organisation C.S. Rao noted that the MP (from Nellore) had justified his `hit and run' visits to his constituency and his stay in Delhi by saying that it was the only way to take care of the interests of the people.
The seat of power is in Delhi from where he could bargain.
In another statement, the MP had pleaded for extension of Purushottam Express from Bhubaneswar to Visakhapatnam to silence those who were opposing the recent decision of the East Coast authorities in extending the Visakha and Prasanthi Express trains from Visakhapatnam to Bhubaneswar causing great inconvenience to the rail travellers of Visakhapatnam.
Mr. Rao felt that the statements either reflect his total ignorance of the genuine demand for a separate railway zone for north coastal Andhra Pradesh with head quarters at Visakhapatnam or his cleverness in playing safe politics. He wondered whether the Central and State Governments were encouraging the local people to take to the path of agitation and destroy public property.
