HYDERABAD: Telugu Desam Parliamentary Party leader K. Yerran Naidu has described as flop Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy’s ‘Praja Patham’ saying it has evoked ‘poor response from people’.

Addressing a press conference, Mr. Naidu and TDP Member of Legislative Council A. Revanth Reddy said the fact that officials were roping in DWCRA women to attend the ‘Praja Padham’ meetings reflected the disinterest among the people. Wherever ruling party MLAs attended meetings, empty chairs greeted them. Dr. Reddy was targeting the TDP for the poor response forgetting the fact that Congress was in power for the last four years, they said. While hurling abuses at the TDP, Dr. Reddy was falsely claiming that he had fulfilled all his election promises. For instance, free power supply was being supplied for seven hours, that too in fits and starts, against nine hours promised in the Congress manifesto and for 12 hours Dr. Reddy had promised when he was the Leader of the Opposition.

To a question, Mr. Naidu said the party need not take any advice from TRS president K. Chandrasekhara Rao on its stand on Telangana. A committee had been appointed and it was on an opinion-gathering mission.

He disagreed with the view that the announcement of candidates by the CPI(M) for byelections from Musheerabad and Cheriyal was unilateral. Every party had a right to take its own decision. As for forging electoral alliance, the TDP was waiting for CPI(M) Polit Bureau’s decision.
