The concept of ‘in-charge' is increasingly becoming the order of the day, with the government remaining indifferent to filling vacant Vice-Chancellor positions in various varsities across the State.
N. Prabhakara Rao, the Vice-Chancellor of Sri Venkateswara University, has pocketed his fourth varsity on Tuesday, with Cuddapah Ramanaiah, the incumbent Vice-Chancellor of Dravidian University, stepping down on completion of his term.
Registrars J. Pratap Reddy (SVU) and Hemakshi Achary (DU) conveyed their compliments to him on the occasion.
Apart from Dravidian varsity, Prof. Rao already holds the “in-charge” rein of Sri Padmavathi Mahila (Tirupati) and Vikrama Simhapuri (Nellore) Universities.
The fact that Prof. Rao's term of office at SVU is coming to an end dangles a question mark over the management of the daily affairs of all four varsities in question.
Prof. Ramanaiah was given a warm send-off by his staff members at the Dravidian University campus in Kuppam on Monday, on completion of his three-year stint.
A lover of folk art forms, he performed ‘Karrasamu' to the students. ‘Hizras' took part in the celebrations and regaled the audience by performing some popular dance numbers.
