Election officers have to send replies to complainants during elections within 15 minutes, says State Election Commissioner

State Election Commissioner P. Ramakantha Reddy has said that a special cell will be established at the State-level to receive complaints on elections, and election officers have to send replies to the complainants during elections within 15 minutes.

Speaking to press persons here on Friday after addressing the regional conference on panchayat raj elections for the districts of Kurnool and Mahabubnagar, the Commissioner also said that during the panchayath raj elections, there would be no separate polling stations for women and only common polling stations would be established.

Mr. Ramakanth Reddy advised the District Educational Officer to take care in appointment of polling personnel and collect employees’ database as early as possible.

He also said that voters could exercise their franchise by producing voter ID card or any of the 21 documents which were permitted by the Election Commission. He said that persons could enrol themselves as voters till the publication of election notification.

The Commissioner called upon the officials of the Mahabubnagar and Kurnool districts to take necessary steps to conduct free and fair elections to panchayath raj bodies. He explained about publication of voters’ list, polling stations, appointment of returning officers, assistant returning officers, polling staff and implementation of model code of conduct through power point presentation.

He asked the officials that elections should be conducted in a peaceful atmosphere without giving room for complaints and that all the election related works should be completed in accordance to rules.


Mahabubnagar District Collector M. Girija Shankar, Superintendent of Police D. Nagender Kumar, Kurnool Collector Sudharshan Reddy and Superintendent of police Chandrashakar Reddy explained about the arrangements taken up in their districts.

Joint secretary Panchayat Raj, Sathya Ramesh clarified the doubts raised by the officials.
