ANANTAPUR: Close on the heels of alleged supporters of an aspirant for party ticket ransacking the Praja Rajyam district office here on Saturday, a few unidentified persons allegedly torched a car belonging to the party candidate for Anantapur Urban Assembly constituency T.J. Prakash here in the wee hours of Sunday.

Based on a complaint lodged by younger brother of the candidate, T.C. Kishore, the police said that Mr. Prakash, Mr. Kishore and five others, were sleeping in their office in Ramnager here after discussing about the electioneering plans till midnight.

However, around 1 a.m., when they were asleep, they woke up to a huge sound in the compound.

When they rushed out, they saw one of the three cars parked there in flames.

They immediately removed the tent erected over the vehicles to prevent it from catching fire and tried to put off the fire.

They also informed the police and fire offices immediately.

Meanwhile, PR announced G.S. Mansoor as its candidate for Anantapur parliamentary constituency.

Similarly, the TDP has announced N. Kistappa as its candidate for Hindupur parliamentary seat followed by V. Hanumantharaya Chowdary for Kalyanadurg and R. Sainath Gowd for Guntakal Assembly constituencies.
