Many areas remain without power

It was past midnight on Sunday when incoming supply was restored to many 33-KV substations in the North Circle of the CPDCL Metro Zone which crashed down on Saturday evening following a major snag in the 400-KV Malkaram substation.

Power supply to the three 132-KV substations at Gunrock, Moula Ali and Chilkalguda stopped at around 6.30 p.m. due to a current transformer's blast at the 400-KV Malkaram substation, a major source of incoming supply to the city. According to sources from CPDCL, the breakdown affected 14 to 15 33-KV substations covering the whole of North Circle. Affected areas include Secunderabad, Begumpet, Paradise, Cantonment, West Marredpally, James Street, Alwal, Moula Ali, Medchal, Bowenpally, Warisguda, Tarnaka, Habsiguda, Trimulgherry, Ameerpet, and Erragadda among others. Though supply was restored after a couple of hours to a few areas by shifting loads onto alternative sources, many localities remained without power for about six to seven hours in the night.

The problem in Malkaram could be rectified only around midnight, after which supply was restored to all the areas, officials from CPDCL informed.
