Power Grid Corporation of India has donated 25 computers with peripherals, computer tables and chairs, all costing Rs.12,44,736 to the computer laboratory of Bhagavatula Charitable Trust (BCT) at the Model High School BCT-Farm Complex at Rambilli mandal in the district on Saturday. The corporation also donated books worth Rs.50,000 and three steel cupboards, tables and chairs worth Rs.1.01,364. It also donated 25 sewing machines and computerised machines for embroidery, all worth Rs.3,21,202.

Chief Manager of Power Grid V.R. Rao formally handed over the entire material, costing Rs.16,95,884, to the Joint Secretary of BCT B.V. Sreenivasa Rao in presence of officers and staff of Power Grid and BCT. Mr. Sreenivasa Rao said that the donation made by Power Grid, as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), would go a long way in improving the infrastructure at BCT for the common good of the people of the district. BCT has been running a Fashion Technology and Garment Making Centre for young women for the last seven years and provided training to over 175 women, most of whom were now employed in different garment making units in the Apparel Park at SEZ at Atchutapuram.
