Power cuts in the city and surrounding areas are most likely to be increased after Id-ul-Fitr celebrations on Monday. A load-relief schedule of three hours per day, in two spells of one-and-a-half hour each, could be imposed on the city, sources from the Central Power Distribution Company informed.
In view of the special requirements during Ramzan month, the company is continuing with scheduled power cuts of only one hour per day in the city, despite acute shortage in availability of power. For maintaining the present quantum of domestic power supply to the city, the company has asked all industrial consumers to go entirely off the line for the past two days.
Earlier, industries drawing power from 33-KV feeders were imposed with a three-day weekly power holiday, while those drawing from 11-KV feeders had a two-day weekly power cut regime. All industries were also to shutdown operations between 6.30 p.m. and 10.30 p.m. every day. Since not very long , the CPDCL has cut down the duration of power cuts for the domestic consumers in the city from three hours to one hour.
