Members of the city-based Poura Samaja Vedika have demanded that people’s representatives in the Seemandhra region tender their resignations, insist on their approval by their respective party high commands/presiding officers and join the ongoing struggle for united Andhra Pradesh.

“By announcing division of Andhra Pradesh, the UPA Government at the Centre has opened a Pandora’s box. Similar demands are being raised for a separate Bodoland, Gorkhaland, Vidarbha and other regions,” said Thumati Premanand, Vedika convenor at a press conference here on Saturday.

Mr. Premanand announced the Vedika’s decision to join the agitation for Samaikyandhra from Sunday. Pointing to the fact that nearly 40,000 employees in Hyderabad were from Seemaandhra region, he said that the decision to make Hyderabad a joint capital of the State for the initial 10 years of the division and ‘failure’ of the Government to spell out a clear-cut action plan on the new capital to be formed for the Seemandhra region reflected it’s lack of foresight.

Vedika’s steering committee members M. Narayana Prasad, P. Venkatarama Rao, Pradeep Mahajan, B. Nageswara Rao, R. Nageswara Rao, G. Syam Prasad and Pradeep Goel were present.
