Osmania University students blocked the university road on Monday evening demanding the postponement of semester exams scheduled to begin from November 26.
They were demanding that the exams be postponed for at least 10 days.
Traffic was thrown out of gear for more than an hour as students sat on the road at the Ladies Hostel blocking traffic from all sides. They demanded the Vice-Chancellor to announce the postponement. Students said the syllabus was not complete and moreover the internal exams were also postponed twice disturbing the academic schedule.
The recent suicide of a student over Telangana cause and the subsequent incidents on the campus also led to the loss of academic days. Hundreds of students raised slogans demanding ‘justice’ and argued that they might get less marks if they took the exams as per schedule.
As the students did not relent, V-C S. Satyanarayana, Registrar V. Kishan Rao and other senior officials came to the venue and tried to pacify the agitated students. The V-C said a decision on the postponement will be taken after a meeting of Standing Committee on Tuesday.
