HYDERABAD: In a mass marriage ceremony, 18 poor Sikh couples got married at Gurudwara Saheb Barambala on Sunday in the presence of head priest Baba Jyotinder Singhji of Takhat Sachkhand Sri Hazur Sahib, Nanded, Maharashtra.

It was the fifth consecutive year that mass marriages were being performed by the Gurudwaras in the city by turns. This was possible due to the initiatives of the Prabhandak Committee, Gurudwara Saheb Barambala, Sikh Chawniat, Kishanbagh, for making the impossible dream come true for the new couples, their parents and grandparents, a press release said.

The brides and bridegrooms hailed from Hyderabad, Karimnagar, Hanamkonda, Nalgonda, Maharastra, Karnataka and other places. Prabhandak Committee President S Harbans Singh and General Secretary, S Bhag Singh said that the couples hailed from poor families.
