As the protests by the Opposition became shriller, Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee president Botcha Satyanarayana on Wednesday made it clear that the Congress government would provide relief to people saddled with hefty hike in power tariff.
Talking to reporters at the Agriculture Market Committee office here, Mr. Satyanarayana said: “The poor and the middle class people will not be burdened”.
“A group of ministers will go into the entire gamut of the issue and come out with suggestions to provide relief to these sections of people”, he added.
It was unfortunate that the opposition parties were politicising the issue with “ulterior motives,” he said, adding that the Telugu Desam Party which had burdened the people with hefty power hike when in power, had no moral right to agitate now.
Replying to a question, he said it was for Assembly Speaker Nadendla Manohar to take action against those Congress MLAs who had voted in support of the no-confidence motion in the House.
