KARIMNAGAR: AP Markfed Chairman Ponnam Prabhakar offered prayers at Sri Gidde Perumandla Swamy Devasthanams and Renuka Yellamma temple in Karimnagar town on Tuesday following the Congress party finalising his candidature from the Karimnagar Lok Sabha constituency.
Talking to newsmen, Mr. Prabhakar thanked Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy, and Chief Minister’s political advisor K.V. Ramachandra Rao and PCC president D. Srinivas for fielding him from Karimnagar parliament constituency.
He said that the Congress has been tasting defeat from Karimnagar parliament seat since the last 13 years after the death of his political guru and former MP J. Chokka Rao.
On a query whether he would be capable to take on TRS president K. Chandrashekhar Rao, he said that the people elected Mr. Chandrashekhar Rao on three occasions within five years from the constituency. But, he failed to work for the development of the constituency or the formation of Telangana.
The TRS president was more concerned about benefiting his own family members, he alleged.
He said that the failures of KCR would be advantageous for the Congress in the elections. He claimed that history would be created with his victory in the elections from the parliament constituency.
