Finding fault with Union Health Minister and AICC general secretary Ghulam Nabi Azad statement that the formation of separate Telangana State was not an easy task, Karimnagar MP Ponnam Prabhakar said that the Union Minister should have made such statement before December 9, 2009 when the UPA government had announced formation of separate Telangana State.
“The UPA government had announced Telangana State and it was ratified in the Parliament also in December 2009. However, the process was stopped following some protests and obstructions”, he reminded.
Talking to newsmen here on Saturday, he ridiculed the Union Minster for dilly-dallying the statehood issue on the pretext of evolving consensus when already all the parties have made their stand very clear. He said that the Union Minister’s statement was causing lot of embarrassment to the Telangana Congress leaders. Demanding that the Union government should carve out separate Telangana State to respect the aspirations of the people and also parliament democracy, he said that the Telangana Congress leaders have only single point agenda of carving out separate Telangana state and nothing else.
Demanding that the UPA government should respect the statement made in the parliament on the formation of Telangana State, he said that the government should expedite the formation of Telangana state at the earliest and uphold the parliament.
