Minister for Information Technology Ponnala Lakshmaiah appeared in the High Court for the second consecutive day on Friday in connection with a petition challenging his election to the Assembly in 2009.

The court adjourned the case to February 21 after he deposed before Justice R. Kantha Rao.

The case was filed by TRS candidate Kommuri Pratap Reddy, who lost the election by a slender margin of 236 votes from Jangaon constituency in Warangal district.

Mr. Reddy filed a pleachallenging the election of Mr. Lakshmaiah and sought the court’s directions to the authorities concerned for the recounting of votes. He accused Mr. Lakshmaiah of winning the election by resorting to malpractice.
