WARANGAL: Congress candidate for the Cheriyal constituency, NRI P. Vaishali who arrived in the country on Sunday straight away drove to the Komuravelli temple in Cheriyal mandal and launched her election campaign.
The 34-year-old Vaishali, accompanied by her husband Murali Krishna, arrived at the temple amidst cheering crowds and offered prayers.
In a brief interaction with the newsmen, Mrs. Vaishali said the development being made in the State under the leadership of Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy had attracted the attention of people across the globe. She was happy to be part of the process and hence decided to enter the direct politics. She said she hoped people of Cheriyal constituency would patronage her leadership and said she was confident of winning the byelection. “This is my native place and I know many people. I know the problems people face here and being the daughter-in-law of senior leader of the Congress I can address the problems and bring in more development,” she said. Senior leader of the constituency and arch rival of Mr. Ponnala Lakshmaiah, MLC N. Rajalingam, was seen busy making arrangements for Mrs. Vaishali’s campaign. Mrs. Vaishali was born and brought up at Tarigoppula village in Narmetta mandal of the Cherial constituency.
As part of the public relations exercise, she went to Bachannapet to attended a marriage of the local Congress MPTC Anjaiah’s daughter.
