A 19-year-old student of Polytechnic Puschuka Dunedra Rao of Polavaram village in Gudur mandal in Krishna District is in an unconscious state in Government General Hospital after he was unscrupulously beaten, alleged Social Justice Party.

The Social Justice Party State president Y. Koteswara Rao said that a final polytechnic student of Thamma Kotamma Reddy College at Pamarru was beaten mercilessly on December 22 last year by the college staff, but the college management alleges that the boy fell from the 4{+t}{+h}floor of the college building.

The victim sustained injuries in the stomach and brain and is in an unconscious state in the hospital, he added. The boy was shifted to a private hospital in Pamarru first and from there to Nagarjuna Hospital at Kanuru on the day of incident. From Nagarjuna Hospital he was taken to Time Hospital in Vijayawada.

There he was operated upon for spleen injury, said Mr. Koteswara Rao (YK), who is a lawyer in Guntur. Now the boy is, however, unconscious for the past two months. He was shifted to GGH in Vijayawada February 26 from Time Hospital.

Suffering from paralytic attack to three-fourths of the body, the boy is struggling for his life, said Mr.YK. The Social Justice Party president alleged that the college wove a false story that he fell from the 4th floor of college, while there was no external injury on the student’s body. A complaint was lodged with the Pamarru Police Station by his parents, but there was no progress in investigation, he said.

He demanded a case be booked against the college management under Sec.307 of IPC for attempt to murder and a DSP-level probe it. Expenses of the treatment should be borne by the college and Government, and a compensation of Rs.10 lakh given to the kin of the boy, who hails from a weaver community.

A Backward Classes convention will be organised at Machilipatnam on March 14 demanding justice for victim Dunedra Rao.
