The Karimnagar milk producer company limited, albeit Karimnagar dairy, is reaping riches with the record sale of buttermilk sachets following the prevailing blistering heat wave conditions and the elections season in the district.

With the series of public meetings organised by various political parties, the sales of buttermilk produced by Karimnagar dairy had increased considerably during this month.

The political parties have started ordering in bulk to distribute the same to the people attending the public meetings and participating in campaigning in the scorching sun. The Congress party had purchased a whopping 50,000 buttermilk sachets and distributed them to people at the meeting addressed by AICC president Sonia Gandhi in Karimnagar town recently.

Similarly, the TRS had also purchased the buttermilk sachets in bulk to distribute the same during the election meetings addressed by its president K. Chandrashekhar Rao in various parts of the district. Buttermilk is healthy drink during the summer season as it protects from dehydration and fatigue. People prefer consuming buttermilk to protect from sunstroke too. The Karimnagar dairy supplies 4,000 buttermilk sachets to Singareni collieries every day in Ramagundam region for the distribution of same to coal miners attending to their duties during the afternoon shift. Karimnagar dairy marketing manager Rajashekhar Reddy told The Hindu on Tuesday that the sales of buttermilk had increased during this season. During the last year, the average sales were 10,000 to 12,000 sachets per day. Now, the sales had touched 18,000 sachets per day, he said, and added that they were also taking bulk orders for the political parties.

He said that the people preferred healthy buttermilk instead of cool drinks during this summer season.
