Hanumantha Rao gave up his job of Inspector of Police to join PR president as his personal security officer
HYDERABAD: As a student in a government hostel for Scheduled Tribes, he used to hate holidays, as he would have to find a known household where he could eat.
Hailing from the Yanadi tribe, none of whom have ever entered the portals of the Assembly or Parliament as a member, Tiruveedula Hanumantha Rao gave up his job of Inspector of Police in the City Range to join Praja Rajyam president K. Chiranjeevi as his personal security officer.
Though he proudly calls himself a fan of the megastar, Mr. Rao never pester his leader for a ticket.
It so happened that just about three or four months ago, he expressed his desire to the leader. As luck would have it, his named figured in the first list from Saluru (ST) constituency in Vizainagaram district.
On his winning chances, Mr. Rao says there are several interesting facts about the constituency that would work in his favour.
Many households in the 260 villages spread across four mandals – Saluru, Mentada, Makkuwa and Pachipenta -- have a portrait of Mr. Chiranjeevi and there are over 20,000 registered fans of the star. How did he first meet his star? “I was a Sub-Inspector in Punjagutta when I first organised bandobust for his shooting.
Mr. Rao’s elder son is named Chiranjeevi and his younger son Avinash was named so by the star himself.
The former police officer’s wife Madhavi shares the megastar’s surname ‘Konidela’, but Mr. Rao swears there is no connection.
