The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has on Thursday moved the State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) seeking protection to the Bhagyalakshmi Temple, following which the commission directed the Police Commissioner to provide adequate security to the temple, the VHP joint secretary Yaman Singh said here on Thursday.

The VHP alleged in its petition before the commission that some people instigated by Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) leaders, started offering prayers at a flag near the temple.

VHP apprehends trouble

The VHP apprehended that a large number of people could gather at the place on Friday and that they might try to damage the temple. The Commission had also asked the police submit a report on the violence by November 30, Mr. Singh said.
