Here is some good news for the poor families living at Bodigadi Thota area on the banks of Penna river. The police have decided to adopt about 100 children and provide them education.
Under Child And Police (CAP) project, the police provided accommodation for the children in Police Boy's Hostel at Kondayapalem in the city recently. Since then, the police are providing food and accommodation for the children.
On Monday, Superintendent of Police B.V. Ramana Kumar, ASPs A.C. Nageswara Rao and K. Narayana Reddy, DSPs A. Srinivas Reddy, Sidda Reddy and other officers visited the hostel and enquired from the inmates about their well-being.
215 poor families
Speaking to the parents of the inmates, Mr. Ramana Kumar said the police will provide education and arrange food and clothes for their children and urged them not to send their children for begging and labour works.
About 215 families are staying in Bodigadi Thota, near the graveyard, and are eking out their livelihood by assisting the funeral processes in the burial ground, begging and by pulling rickshaws.
The police will help them in getting ration cards and educate their children, the SP said.
Later, the police served food to the families and distributed sweets and fruits to them.
