Police Commemoration Week, observed as a mark of respect to the policemen who died in the line of duty, came to a grand finish here on Monday.
To honour their sacrifice, Tirupati Urban police led by Superintendent of Police S.V. Rajasekhar Babu took out a parade from the District Police Office (DPO).
Decked in crisp uniforms, the policemen marched through important junctions in the city, while the parade ended at the DPO.
Even the members of the Special Forces deployed during Samaikyandhra agitation took part in the parade.
Policemen held banners and reminisced the courage and commitment displayed by their peers in maintaining law and order.
They also threw light on the steps taken by the department to build rapport between police and public. Later, prizes were distributed to winners of the competitions held during the commemoration week.
