We are on a high alert, says Superintendent of Police
Security for VIPs visiting the district beefed upSP justifies heavy mobilisation of police force for VIPs
Kakinada: Though there is no visible violent activity on the part of the Maoists in the East Godavari agency in the recent past, the police have intensified their vigil in view of the fresh movements noticed in the interior forest area across the district borders of late.
The agency police stations are fortified and equipped with modern weapons to repel the possible attacks. "We are on a high alert and capable of retaliating against the Maoists," said Vemuganti Naveen Superintendent of Police while speaking to The Hindu here on Saturday.
He said efforts were on to encourage Maoists to surrender. Mr. Naveen feels that the Maoist ranks have starte dwindling with the surrender of considerable number of top leaders in recent months. In order to make up for their lost strength, he said, the Maoists were now busy consolidating their forces by bringing the cadre from other zones, like Nallamala and other areas.
