He carried petrol in 1.5 litre soft drink bottle
Police believe P. Eshan Reddy, whose charred body was found in the bushes close to the main library building on Osmania University campus, carried petrol in a 1.5 litre capacity soft drink bottle.
Forensic experts told the police that the bottle's cap collected from the spot smelt petrol. Chemical test are being conducted to further ascertain this. A bag with a note book, a part of burnt leather footwear and a suicide note purportedly written by him were also found at the scene.
Police ruled out foul play stating that soot particles found in the trachea, the handwriting in the note and the circumstantial evidence nearly established it was a case of suicide. The forensic doctors opined the victim died between 2 a.m. and 5 a.m. on Saturday.
An engineering graduate, Reddy was preparing for Graduate Record Examination to secure admission in a foreign university for post-graduate programme. He used to regularly come to the university library. On Friday, he came to the library around 5 p.m. and reportedly was around that place till 11 p.m.
However, police have not yet find out where he was from 11 p.m. to next morning when he burnt himself to death. His death came as a rude jolt to his family. For the students of OU campus too, the suicide was a shock.
TRS chief K. Chandrashekhar Rao wept on seeing his body and appealed to students not to resort to such extreme step since separate Telangana would be a reality soon.
