A 45-year-old tribal man committed suicide unable to bear the alleged inaction of the police to register his complaint against his son-in-law at Ramnarsaiahnagar in Konijerla mandal in the wee hours of Thursday. The deceased has been identified as Boda Veeranna, 45, of Ramnarsaiahnagar. According to sources, Veeranna reportedly approached the local police on Wednesday seeking action against his son-in-law for allegedly harassing his daughter. The police personnel concerned reportedly asked him to come the next day. Veeranna returned home and ended his life by consuming pesticide in the early hours of Thursday.

Agitated over the incident, the relatives of the deceased staged a dharna along with the dead body of Veeranna near the police station in Konijerla for about half an hour. They alleged that Veeranna took the extreme step due to the alleged inaction of the ASI concerned to register a case against the former’s son-in-law. They called off their stir following the intervention of senior police officials. Veeranna had strained relations with his son-in-law ever since his daughter married the latter against his wishes, said Wyra CI Mohan Raja.
