Chief Minister’s convoy passing via Chilkalguda crossroads upset the dharna planned by the Telugu Desam members here at Oliphant Bridge near Secunderabad on Saturday.

The TDP members, under the leadership of Talasani Srinivas Yadav, turned up at the venue on Saturday morning demanding the repair and upgradation of the Oliphant Bridge. “This is a very important bridge witnessing heavy traffic flow at all times. The present government has completely neglected the maintenance of this key stretch forcing commuters to face untold hardships each day. We demand the authorities to understand this bridge’s importance and take up steps to repair it immediately,” Mr. Srinivas Yadav said.

However, a strong contingent of police personnel soon converged on the dharna venue and broke up the crowd. The arrested party workers and leaders were later taken to Bolarum police station.
