Guntur urban police foiled the indefinite hunger strike launched by advocates seeking a High Court Bench between Guntur and Vijayawada late on Saturday night and forcibly shifted two of the three advocates. Neelam Sankar Rao, however, gave the slip to the police and was reportedly holed up at the office of Bar Association.

The police action came hours after the High Court issued a circular asking District Judges to take immediate action to restore normal functioning of the courts.

A team of men led by Sub-Inspectors D. Sridhar Reddy and D. Koteswara Rao swooped on the camp near District Courts in pouring rain and shifted the two advocates, Munnagni Sambi Reddy and Ponnam Ravindra Babu to Government General Hospital, from where they ‘left against medical advice,' and were reportedly taking treatment at a private hospital.
