The downpour during the last few days has thrown life out of gear in the State in general and the coastal areas in particular. Though relief operations were hampered by the rain, the police have rushed to help people.
The East Godavari police distributed food packets on their own in many areas like Kakinada and Amalapuram.
They also arranged shifting of the affected people to safer places and conducted relief operations in association with the revenue authorities, according to the Inspector- General of Police (East Zone), Visakhapatnam.
The SPs of Krishna, West Godavari and Visakhapatnam districts also arranged evacuation, relief camps and food packets in the flood-affected areas.
The police have been asked to move in the affected areas and arrange relief operations.
They should also coordinate with the District Administration wherever help was required.
