The Third Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate C. Ramadevi on Wednesday granted seven-day police custody for Akbar Qureshi, Md. Yousuf, and Siri Bhagavan, who were arrested on the charge of entering the house of K. Srikant by breaking open the locks and decamping with gold ornaments.

The Duvvada police registered a case and CI Trinath had arrested the accused at Nakkapalli and the accused were produced in court and remanded till December 20.

On a petition filed for police custody, Assistant Public Prosecutor Mylapilli Adinarayana contended that the accused had committed some more offences and to ascertain where they had committed the offences, it was essential to hand them over to police custody.

While granting seven-day police custody, the Magistrate directed the police not to use third degree method and to conduct the interrogation in the presence of the counsel for the accused.
