VISAKHAPATNAM: Nominations for the Assembly and Parliamentary elections falling in Visakhapatnam Rural District will be filed from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. between March 23 and 30.
Section 30 of the Indian Police Act would be in force in all constituencies to maintain public order and peace, according to Superintendent of Police Akun Sabharwal.
All contesting candidates have to take prior approval of the Sub Divisional Police Officer concerned.
Only three vehicles would be allowed within 100 metres of the Returning Officer’s office and four other persons would be allowed along with the candidate inside the Returning Officer’s chamber for the filing of nomination. The SP appealed to all political parties to cooperate with the police in the maintenance of public order and peace.
Call to retired police
The City Police have called upon retired police personnel and ex-servicemen and retired personnel of other departments, interested in serving as Special Police Officers, during the forthcoming general elections to approach Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) K.V.V. Gopala Rao at the Police Commissionerate on or before March 26.
The candidates have to register their names and their services would be utilised for the conduct of elections in the city limits between April 12 and 16.
The candidates shouldn’t have crossed 60 years of age. They would be paid honorarium.
