The firm, which along with Transstroy India as a consortium, had been listed as L1 (lowest price bidder) to construct the Polavaram project, has sought a week’s time to clarify its position on the report submitted to the Irrigation Department about it by the Indian Embassy in Russia. A letter from the firm seeking extension of the earlier three-day time limit given by the department for the purpose which closed on Wednesday, was received by the department here on Thursday. The embassy, in its communication sent to the department on December 4, on the request by the latter, had intimated that the previous experience certificates furnished by the firm remained unauthenticated, an official said. The communication of the embassy, in turn, was based on the reports obtained by it from the Russian Federation of Chambers of Commence and Industry.
