The State government has taken a serious view of the allegations against an engineers’ team which visited Russia recently to verify certificates furnished by the bidders of Polavaram works that it enjoyed the hospitality of a company during its stay there.

The High Power Committee on major irrigation projects’ tenders, headed by Chief Secretary Minnie Mathew is now considering the reports submitted by the two engineers’ teams after visits to Russia and China to verify the certificates.

The committee, during its second meeting here on Friday, expressed serious concern over the allegations made against the engineers’ team that visited Russia to the effect that it had stayed in the hotel where the officials of a bid company were lodged and that the company had footed all their bills.

It will cross-check the allegations through its own intelligence channels.
