GUNTUR: ‘Abhinava Tikkana’ Tummala Sitaramamurti’s ‘Rashtraganam’ inspired people of Andhra to a great extent and achieve their goal of separate province. It made all Andhras unite under one banner and moved the heart of every person here, said speakers at a function held in Bapatla to commemorate the 108th birth anniversary of the great poet.

His inspiring poems were on the lips of every Telugu-speaking man in those days. The poet’s birth anniversary was celebrated on Friday at Forum For Better Bapatla office.

The speakers said that they were proud of Tummala as he belonged to Bapatla. Tummala’s love for the State was like that of Tagore for Bengal.

The Andhra race, Andhra history and culture and Telugu language inspired him so much that he became an instrument for inspiration for others.

Tummala was a great benefactor to Andhras and after formation of Andhra State he wrote ‘Udayaganam’ and gave his suggestions to solve the teething troubles and develop the State in all fields. He was conferred ‘Kalaprapoorna’ by Andhra University. Members of Forum also recollected the literary services of ‘Sahiti Rudrama’ Vutukuri Lakshmikantamma, who was also born on this day. Forum office-bearers P.C. Sai Babu, G. Venkateswara Rao, A. Raghuram and others spoke.
