He makes surprise visit to corporate colleges, schools

ELURU: The plight of students of leading corporate colleges in the city moved city MLA A. Kalikrishna Srinivas during his surprise visit on Thursday.

He was witness to a couple of sick students craving for medical attention at a corporate college at Narasimharaopet. He got the two students shifted to government hospital for treatment in his car. Mr. Srinivas expressed serious concern over reported indifferent attitude of corporate colleges with regard to safety and health of their students.

Finding students attending classes in a college under construction, he pulled up the authorities of the Intermediate board who accompanied him for allowing classes in utter disregard for safety of students. At a corporate school at Satrampadyu, he sought to know from the school management as to why it failed to provide basic facilities like benches and chairs to students even after collecting hefty amounts of fee from them.

He was moved by the plight of as many as 14 students in a 40-member class wearing spectacles as a result of visual disorders in another corporate college in the vicinity. In all corporate colleges and schools he visited, the MLA found that the students were deprived of potable drinking water, playground, toilets and the other minimum needs.

He asked officials of the Education Department to take stringent action against managements of corporate institutions if they ran classes on Sunday.
