The parents of a one-and-a-half-year-old baby, diagnosed with leukaemia, have appealed to philanthropists for help to meet the expenses of her treatment.
Sanjana, daughter of Alamanda Indira Kumar of Dondaparthy area, was diagnosed with blood cancer when she was taken to a private hospital for treatment of persistent fever. Laboratory tests revealed that she had acute leukaemia. Sanjana is eligible for treatment under Rajiv Aarogyasri as the family has a BPL card. But, the maximum amount payable under the scheme is Rs. 2 lakh. Her father works for a private courier agency and cannot meet the additional expenditure required for her treatment. “Doctors have told us that the disease is curable, but the treatment cost will be around Rs.5 lakh. Sanjana was taken to the Basava Tarakam Trust Hospital in Hyderabad on Wednesday by her parents,” says Indira Kumar’s brother Murali. He can be reached on mobile no. 90325 51299 for details.
