PDSU State-level training classes on political awareness get under way

Student community is termed an important section of society

Some 150 students attending the training classes

KHAMMAM: Exposure of students to social realities and a thorough understanding of the problems being faced by the marginalised sections of society were emphasised by D. Venkata Krishna, State Secretariat member of the CPI (ML New Democracy) on Monday.

Addressing the inaugural session of the PDSU State-level training classes on political awareness, he said the students who were successful in understanding society around would be able to realise the transformation and how it could be achieved.

He said that the student community would be the most important section of society to bring about the desired change. They should be involved themselves effectively in the action programme that aimed at the desired change. The CPI(ML New Democracy ) district secretary P. Ranga Rao said that the student community was becoming restive on account of the debate over the continuation of many of the measures introduced by the Rajasekhara Reddy government.

Fee reimbursement

He said that the measures aimed at supporting students with scholarships and reimbursement of student fees were being put to scrutiny. If such schemes were scrapped, the students might be forced to take recourse to agitational methods. Some 150 students representing the district units of the PDSU attended the training classes.
