VISAKHAPATNAM: Platform 4 in the Visakhapatnam railway station is back in operation from Thursday after the railways completed the job of laying concrete flooring for the track.
Sources said since all the six platforms are available now for operation, the delay caused for vacant platforms will be reduced to some extent. The concrete flooring was laid mainly to help easy washing of the track and improve hygiene in the station. Now the work to fill earth in the extended portion of the platform 4 and 5 will be taken up and completed by the month-end.
Once this job is over all the six platforms will be available for operation of lengthy trains (up to 24 coaches) like Godavari Express, Prasanti Express and Coromandel Express, according to sources.
