VIJAYAWADA: The Krishna Mahotsavam commencing on January 27 will have an added `green' flavour to it, courtesy a programme jointly planned by the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) and voluntary organisations to plant one lakh saplings in the city.

The programme is being launched at the initiative of `Eco Friends Organisation', floated by film actor and producer K. Nagendra Babu to encourage activities relating to ecological protection among students of colleges and schools.

Mayor T. Sakuntala said at a press conference on Saturday that the programme will be kicked off at a public meeting at Ghantasala Venkateswara Rao Government Music College, Durgapuram.
