The PIL Bench of the High Court comprising acting Chief Justice N.V.Ramana and Justice Vilas Afzalpurkar on Monday announced that it will hear the arguments in the case filed by A. Biksham challenging the power tariff hike proposals on Tuesday.

Senior counsel S.Ramachandra Rao on Monday morning requested the bench to hear the case urgently as lunch motion as the new tariff had come into force from April 1.

The bench, however, said that it will hear the case on Tuesday morning.

The PIL Bench also announced that it will hear the arguments in the case filed challenging the action of the Union of India in fixing a deadline and seeking to implement it for installation of STBs in the cities of Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam without taking steps for supply of adequate number of STBs at affordable prices, on Tuesday.

The case was filed by Chalasani Narendra , a senior journalist and rights activist.

A direction not to take coercive steps in the name of notification by the Central Government was sought.

A mention was made on Monday morning and the bench said that it will hear the case on Tuesday.
