The college of general practitioners of Indian Medical Association (IMA) here will start a post-graduate diploma course in paediatrics from this year in association with Sydney University.

The one-year programme will comprise eight months of theory classes and four months of practicals in paediatric hospitals of government sector. Examiners from Sydney will conduct theory and clinical exams and logbook discussions and viva voce at the end of the course, Dean of the college P. Pulla Rao told a press conference on Wednesday.

He said the course was sanctioned by the central working committee of IMA with an intake of 30. The fee would be decided by Sydney University but it was likely to be Rs. 1 lakh in instalments.
