Kiran Kumar Reddy will inaugurate ‘100’ service, says DGP

Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy will inaugurate the ‘100’ toll-free service on Ugadi which will help people all over the State find an immediate solution to their problems, Director General of Police V. Dinesh Reddy said.

Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, Mr. Reddy said that the State police was actively following the twin blasts case and that the perpetrators of the crime had been identified with the help of CCTV footage. The investigation had been handed over to the National Investigation Agency, he added.

Talking about the ‘100’ service, Mr. Dinesh Reddy said that it is going to be a important step for the police department to respond quickly to any distress call and take immediate action.

This will help in mitigating the sufferings of the people to a large extent.

In the US, they have the ‘911’ service which could be accessed from anywhere in that country, which is three times bigger than India.

Mr. Reddy said that separate reception centres were being opened in all 1,681 police stations in the State where complaints would be received and processed. A special ambience, one that is different from the police stations, would be created.

Stating that Rs.450 crore had been sanctioned by the Central government to improve the surveillance system in the twin cities, Mr. Dinesh Reddy said that 3,500 CCTVs were going to be installed all over Hyderabad and Cyberabad.

The security then would be like London and Mumbai, he added.

Mr. Dinesh Reddy complimented the district police for providing fool-proof security and ensuring smooth conduct of the recent Indiramma Baata for the Chief Minister in the district for three days.
