Byelections brought about a decline in the TRS status: Jeevan Reddy
HYDERABAD: Congress MLA T. Jeevan Reddy asserted that the recent byelections in the Telangana region have brought a decline in the status of the Telangana Rashtra Samiti from a regional party to a “sub-regional” one.
The TRS’ presence after the bypoll was confined to three districts from the earlier six and this showed the people’s disenchantment with the TRS, he said.
Mr. Jeevan Reddy who lost the Karimnagar Lok Sabha byelection with a narrow margin was re-inducted into the State Cabinet on Friday.
Governor N.D. Tiwari administered the oath of office to the Congress MLA in the presence of Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, PCC president D. Srinivas, several Ministers and senior Congress leaders.
In a brief chat with reporters later, Mr. Jeevan Reddy refuted the claim that the Telangana sentiment took a beating in the bypolls.
The people gave their verdict against the policies of TRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao and not on the Telangana issue.
Thanking the Chief Minister for taking him back into the State Cabinet, he said he was not particular about the portfolio and that he would continue serving the people in any portfolio given to him.
