Exhibition to remain open till March 12
KARIMNAGAR: Minister for Labour G. Vinod had inaugurated the 12-day khadi gramodyog mela organised by the Vavilala Khadi Gramodyog Prathisthan and Khadi and Village Industries Board at the Circus grounds here on Thursday night.
About 35 stalls of various products such as khadi fabric, Pondur khadi, sarees, carpets, pickles, mango jelly, etc. were displayed at the mela. There was good response to the khadi gramodyog mela. People have started arriving in large numbers to purchase various products made available at a discount of 10 to 25 per cent.
The politicians were competing with each other to purchase the popular pondur khadi, which is worn by Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy. With summer having set in, there was brisk sale of khadi shirts.
The womenfolk were busy purchasing the silk and tusar sarees and other lace materials.
An exclusive stall was opened to sell various health and beauty products made of aloevera and another stall was selling Ayurvedic medicines.
There were special Andhra pickle stalls and the areselu, sunundallu and papads were selling like hot cakes. The exhibition will remain open till March 12.
Karimnagar legislator M. Satyanarayana, ZP chairman A. Mohan, Collector M. V. Satyanarayana, SP Y. Gangadhar and others also visited the mela.
