Blood donation, poor feeding mark the 61st birth anniversary of former Chief Minister

Inauguration of statues, laying foundation for a memorial park, charity activities and meetings marked the celebration of the birth anniversary of former Chief Minister late Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy in the district on Thursday.

Minister for Information Technology Komatireddy Venkat Reddy laid the foundation stone for a park in memory of YSR at Brahmanavellamla, the native place of the former, in Narketpally mandal.

Speaking at a meeting held at the Zilla Parishad High School premises at Brahmanavellamla on the occasion, the Minister said that the memorial park would be developed at a cost of Rs. 50 lakh in the village. “YSR's statue would be installed in the park,” he said and added that it would be inaugurated on September 2 coinciding with the first death anniversary of YSR.

Terming YSR as his mentor, the Minister attributed his rise in the political career to late YSRBhongir MP K. Rajgopal Reddy deplored that some vested interests were giving wrong feedback to the party high command and trying to defame Mr. Jagan with narrow political machinations.

Karimnagar Staff Reporter adds: Rich tributes were paid to the former Chief Minister in Karimnagar town. Minister for Higher Education D. Sridhar Babu, Karimnagar MP Ponnam Prabhakar, DCC coordinator K Ravinder Rao, Mayor D Shankar and others participated in the birth anniversary at the party office by paying floral tributes to the departed leader.

The Congress leaders have organised various programmes on the occasion including blood donation camp, distribution of note books to the students, poor feeding programmes etc.

Similarly, the district administration had also participated in the birth anniversary of former Chief Minister at the Collectorate office buildings. Collector G.D. Aruna paid floral tributes to the late leader and cut the birthday cake on the occasion. Yeoman service

At Congress Bhavan here the District Congress Committee president Gadugu Gangadhar led the party functionaries in paying the tributes.

The PCC secretary N. Ratnakar, DCC secretary Akula Rajeswar, Javed Akram, Corporators Rajendra Prasad, Bantu Sankar and others were present. At a function held at Brahminwada, Congress candidate for Warangal West Assembly byelection Kondapalli Dayasagar Rao, Warangal MP S Rajaiah, MLA B Saraiah, senior leader GVS Srinivasa Chary and others garlanded the portrait of YSR and lauded his services to the country.

They said it was YSR who was instrumental in bringing the Congress party back to rule in the State and initiated several developmental projects At another function, Mayor E Swarna cut the cake and paid rich tributes to departed leader.
