Urban SP A Venkateswar Rao on Wednesday cautioned people to safeguard their property while on a holiday in view of increased incidence of house breakings in the town. He said that robbers will be on the prowl as people generally go out of town during the Dasara festival holidays and hence it is important that residents keep their belongings safe while they are away Locking of all doors and windows properly and keeping gold and cash in bank lockers were some of the tips given by him.
“ residents should keep their neighbours or nearest police station informed while taking enough care themselves. If possible, install a webcam or secret camera,” he told the newsmen.
The SP advised residents to put on a light or fan or radio or TV to give an impression that the house is occupied and ask the alert the neighbours to check the door on regular intervals. Women were advised to put on a curtain after locking the door so that offenders cannot venture inside. He reviewed the arrangements for Saddula Bathukamma festival on October 12.
