The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) is vehemently opposing the proposed VK-PCPIR petro corridor project and is going to cancel it once the party voted to power, according to Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, floor leader of the TDP in the Legislative Council.
Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, Mr. Ramakrishnudu accused the State government of continuing the industrial policies of the late Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy. He said the proposed VK-PCPIR project would only help the business groups encouraged by the late YSR. It is unfortunate that the Chief Minister is continuing the same industrial policies even after filing of cases against Ministers and higher officials. The present project is useful only to a few industrialists, but not to the poor, he said, demanding that the government cancel the project immediately.
Referring to the recent killing of a banking agent in Rajahmundry, Mr. Ramakrishnudu demanded a CBI inquiry into the incident. He alleged that a few political leaders were backing the accused and encouraging the circulation of counterfeit currency. He also demanded the cancellation of laterite mining contract in the district.
