TRS president justifies selection of candidates

Allegations of TRS selling tickets is the handiwork of ‘anti-Telangana forces’

Dissatisfaction among aspirants not getting ticket common in parties, says TRS president

SANGAREDDY: Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) president K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Sunday said that party ticket was allotted to ‘winning horses’ and to those committed to the Telangana cause.

He said there was no need to view the issue from any other angle, adding that he was ready “cut his head instead of bowing before any one for the cause.”

Speaking to reporters after performing a special pooja at the Venkateswara Swamy temple at Konayapalli in Nanganoor mandal of Medak district, he said, “The allegations that the TRS sold tickets is nothing but a creation by anti-Telangana forces to defame us. I am committed to the cause of Telangana and people know my commitment. The aspirants who are not able to get tickets will also come to terms,” he said.

Dissatisfaction among aspirants during ticket distribution was very common in political parties, he said and appealed to the people to vote for Vijayashanti, the party’s nominee for the Medak Lok Sabha seat, in the forthcoming general election.

Busy schedule

Mr. Rao said they were not able to present themselves before the media as they were busy finalising candidates. He expressed confidence that the Grand Alliance would come to power defeating the Congress.

Earlier, accompanied by party secretary-general Vijayashanti and general secretary K. Taraka Rama Rao, the Telangana Rashtra Samiti chief flew in a chopper from Hyderabad to Konayapalli to offer special prayers.

Mr. Rao has been visiting the temple since the last two-and-a-half decades, before filing his nomination papers for elections.
