The Indian Medical Association has welcomed the parliamentary standing committee on Health’s direction to the Union Health Ministry to withdraw the National Commission for Human Resources for Health (NCHRH) Bill, 2011. Doctors N.Raghava Rao and R. Jayasekhar, IMA Central Working Committee members expressed satisfaction over the Parliamentary committee asking the Ministry to bring forward a fresh Bill after taking into view the concerns expressed by the stakeholders. IMA local chapter treasurer P. Phanidhar, said it was satisfying to note that the Centre had agreed to modify the 3-1/2 year Bachelor of Rural Health course into a non-medical BSC degree course.
